These are the few photos I took at this year's Brownsville Historic Half-Marathon. I took these after the race. I found a bench and anticipated sitting there for a few days. I'm not sure why but this race always kicks by butt. Last year and this year, by the time I reached Mile 12, I thought, "I am NEVER running a half-marathon again." The last turnaround point seems to get further and further away. I felt like I was literally at the Rio Grande before I turned back to the finish line. I remember thinking, "Oh, we'll turn after that curve. Wait, we'll turn after that curve. Oh, we'll turn at the school that I never knew existed. No, we're turning into the school. Dear God." Yes, that's blood above my sock. I've learned I need the heel tab (I think it's called) to stop that from happening. Other quick notes about the race: We had a delayed start. I think there was a mix-up with the racing chips. We had to switch them out before the run. There were long lines for that.
