A Little Something Extra

As the runs get longer, we're encouraged to pack supplements, salt packets and electrolytes to use during our run. I learned after three miles I'm going downhill without something.

Today's wellness fair at work gave me a chance to add to the list of supplements to try.

So, I tried one of the pre-workout drinks in today's run. And as I was preparing it, I noticed the warning label:

This product may contain legal dietary ingredients that are prohibited by Sports and/or cause a false positive for banned or prohibited substances.

Uh... I wanted to post that here in case I'm suddenly subject to a random drug test.

In Brightest Day, In Darkest Night

I'm a bit swamped with some work, but I wanted to post. Below is my gear for early morning runs. With the jacket alone, I assume I look like one giant, bright orb to passing cars.

For a run earlier this year, I wore a cape because it had a superhero theme. Of course, I was the last runner all alone at the end, so I was by myself running along the frontage road in a cape. So I'm fine being a giant orb.
Below is a photo of my very expensive compression socks. They came with instructions. (And yet somehow, I still missed that they're labeled "left" and "right.") I joked about the socks since I bought them. Yesterday, I forgot to wear them for a run. My poor feet.... I will never joke about the socks again.

I'd like to state for the record a PA and a doctor said I could still run. On the left is a split I use while I sleep. The other two things are actually a weight and a toy that lights up. I roll my foot on them to stretch the muscle on the bottom of my foot.

Below is a photo of a dinosaur chasing me.

Here's a photo of a headband with a sign that I wore to work yesterday, because starting a conversation like a normal person just never feels right to me.

On a side note, I finally figured out how to set up my running app properly. I learned from a blogger who calls herself the Running Tortoise. She describes herself as someone who's come to terms that she's a slow runner.

Of course, she posted her runtime. I am still slower than her.

Second side note: Please donate. I'm very close to reaching my goal; $13.10 is a nice number since I'm running 13.1 miles. More would be awesome. If you can just give change or a dollar, that's fine.

I collected singles from people. Depositing a bunch of singles might look odd to the bank tellers. But that's just a plus.

Former high school water girl (really) finally running.

I started this blog as part of my participation with LLS Team In Training. I moved it to this site to continue my (still slow) running adventures in South Texas.
