Good Morning Baltimore

I got to visit Baltimore in December, because that's when a South Texan should head north - in the middle of December.

It was actually for a great reason. My friend was graduating with a master's degree from Johns Hopkins. It was a short visit, just for the ceremony.

I woke up early and almost decided against running, but then I had the television on. The morning newscast cut to a shot of the area outside my hotel, and I saw a jogger out and about. My ego demanded I get up.

It was cold. I only almost slipped twice. It was a great area for a run. When I'm out of town, I use MapMyRun to look for routes. I found a great route with minimal traffic; however, I wanted to visit a cathedral in another area, so I only did part of the route in MapMyRun and then headed to the cathedral.

It was early, so I didn't hit much traffic when going to the cathedral. I thought I was doing well until I turned left on Cathedral Street and I saw a rather steep climb. *Sigh*

I knew there was a service in the morning. I was late, but
I got to attend part of it. Unfortunately, running in cold weather causes my nose to run too. On a long shot, I asked a woman if she had a tissue, and she actually had quite a few.

I headed back to the hotel, and I felt like I was moving fast. The first part I know was because I was headed downhill. (I could've gone in another direction, but I earned the right to run down the street the easy way.) The rest was because I was trying to reach the next block before the light changed. It felt like quick sprints, but my watch confirms I was going my usual pace.

I wish I had a chance to have a longer run, but I enjoyed the opportunity to have a quick look around.

Former high school water girl (really) finally running.

I started this blog as part of my participation with LLS Team In Training. I moved it to this site to continue my (still slow) running adventures in South Texas.
