I had mistakenly been blaming a pair of socks for a blister I had on my left foot. But before heading out to San Antonio, I checked my Hokas to see if I was due for a new pair. I was.
I often buy my shoes online, but I like to pop into running stores to see what’s available. And I always need them to tell me how to pronounce “Hoka” properly. The store I went to didn’t have my Conquest 2. The salesperson recommended Bondi, which I had heard good things about. It’s a closer fit on the sides of my feet, which is different. I decided to give them a try.
The salesperson asked if I wanted to wear them out of the store. I’m sure I made a face. You don’t just walk around with your running shoes.
I then realized I was wearing a pair of ASICS at the time. She couldn’t have known I don’t use those for running.
And because I’m stupid, I didn’t try to break in my shoes slowly. Nope. I just took them for a long run and immediately got blisters for it. Here’s hoping my new shoes last until the Rock ’N’ Roll Half-Marathon in December.
Have you every tried Bondi? What’s your favorite running shoe?
